Abstract: The old Ryukyu Kingdom maintained exchanges and close ties with China for a long period of time.But during the Ming Dynasty,the 300-year-long Japanese pirate peril had huge impact on the relations between China and Ryukyu.The rampancy of Japanese pirates interrupted the conferring of titles to the Ryukyu kings and the paying of tributes to the Ming emperors as well as trade between China and Ryukyu.The Ryukyu Kingdom assisted Ming Empire in fighting and expelling the pirates,which promoted the development of the relations between China and Ryukyu.
