Title: Endothelial function and serum nitric oxide level in normotensive offsprings with familial history of hypertension
Abstract: Objective To stuty the endothelium-dependent vasodilatation and serum nitric oxide(NO) level in normotensive offsprings with familial history of hypertension. Methods Normotensive 48 individuals with familial history of hypertention(positive group) and 45 individuals without familial history of hypertention(control group) were included in the study. The blood pressures were measured, the blood glucose(BS),total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),uric acid, serum creatinine and NO were detected.Noninvasive high-resolution ultrasound was used to mesure radial artery diameter at rest, during reactive hyperemia, and after nitroglycerine administration, the flow-mediated dilation(FMD) and nitroglycerine mediated dilation(NMD) were calculated. Results The systolic blood pressure and serum uric acid in the positive group were higher than those in the control group, the FMD decreased in the positive group compared with the contral group, there were no significant differences of NMD in two groups. Conclusion The impaired endothelium-dependent vasodilation and reduction of serum NO level indicate the damage at vessel wall in noimotensive offsprings with familial history of hypertension.
