Title: Gambogic acid induces apoptosis of SK-MES-1 lung cancer cells
Abstract: Objective To investigate the inhibitory effects of gambogic acid (GA) on the growth and apoptosis of SK-MES-1 lung squamous cancer cells. Methods Modified MTT assay and flow cytometry were used to detect the growth and apoptosis of SK-MES-1 cells induced by GA.Western blotting was used to detect the expression levels of Caspase 9,10 and p53 protein. Results The growth of SK-MES-1 cells was significantly inhibited and its apoptosis increased by GA.The expressions of Caspase9,10 and p53 were up-regulated concentration-dependently by GA.Conclusion GA can promote the apoptosis of SK-MES-1 lung squamous cancer cells, which may be related to the up-regulation of the expressions of Caspase 9,10 and p53.
