Title: Expression of interleukin-4 in rabbits with acute lung injury induced by oleic acid
Abstract: Objective To observe the expression of interleukin-4(IL-4) in rabbits with acute lung injury(ALI) induced by oleic acid,in order to explore the effect of IL-4 in the pathogenesy of rabbits with ALI induced by oleic acid. Methods Twenty New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into ALI model group(experiment group) and control group, ten rabbits in each group. The partial pressure of oxygen in artery(PaO2),the expression of IL-4 and the activity of myeloperoxidase(MPO),the levels of IL-4 in peripheral blood and bronchial alveolar lavage fluid(BALF) were detected and compared in two groups. Results The levels of IL-4 in lung tissue, peripheral blood and BALF of rabbits in the experiment group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P0.05).The PaO2 in the experiment group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P0.05).The activity of MPO in the experiment group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P0.01).The level of PaO2 was negatively correlated to the expression of IL-4 in the experiment group(r=-0.412 5,P0.05).Conclusion The increasing of the expression of IL-4 may be associated with the development of ALI in rabbits.
