Title: The expressions of p63,Bcl-2 and ki-67 in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and invasive carcinoma and their relationship to clinicopathology
Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of p63 protein in the cervical carcinoma through the expressions and the difference of p63,Bcl-2 and ki-67 in the cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and invasive carcinoma. Methods Immunohistochemical techniques(Power VisionTM) were used to study the expressions of p63,Bcl-2 and ki-67 in 80 cases of cervical epithelial (normal or reactive epithelial changes,CIN,squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma ).Results p63 expression by immunostaining delineated basal cells with high proliferative potentiality of the cervical transformation zone.In CIN,p63 expression was direct correlated with grades of CIN,but the difference between CINⅢ and squamous cell carcinoma was no significant. The expression rate in adenocarcinoma was 0%.In CIN,Bcl-2 expression was not related to the grades of CIN.The expression rate of Bcl-2 was more limited than that of p63.The expression rate of ki-67 was related to the histological differentiation degree. No significant difference of Bcl-2 and ki-67 positive expressions were detected in squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma. Conclusion p63 may promote transformation of primary cervical carcinoma.p63 may be a marker of tumor of squamous epithelia origin.p63 is linked to cell proliferation.
