Title: Clinical analysis of elderly thyroid function and metabolic syndrome
Abstract: OBJECTIVE To investigate the correlation of elderly thyroid function and metabolic syndrome.METHODS There were 60 cases of patients with metabolic syndrome,and 60 healthy persons in control group.TT3(serum total T3),TT4(total serum thyroxine T4),and FT3(serum free T3) and FT4(serum free thyroxine) and rT3 and(serum anti-T3) and TSH(thyroid stimulating hormone),etc.of patients were detected and compared.RESULTS Abnormal rates of TT3,TT4 and FT3 and FT4,rT3,TSH of patients with in metabolic syndrome group were significantly higher than in healthy controls,the data had significant differences(P﹤0.05).CONCLUSION Elderly metabolic syndrome is closely related to thyroid function.Elderly patients suffering from metabolic syndrome commonly occur with abnormal thyroid function,it can be used as an important indicator in clinical diagnosis,as well as in prevention for senile cardiovascular and cerebrovasculardisease.
