Title: Change of Thyroid Hormone level in Elderly Patients with Type 2 Diabetes and Its Clinical Significance
Abstract: Objective To analyze the change of thyroid hormone level in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes and its clinical significance. Methods 54 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes admitted in our hospital during November 2013 and November 2014 were assigned to the study group, and 54 healthy elderly without diabetes in the same period were assigned to the control group.Total triiodothyronine(TT3), total thyroxine(TT4), free triiodothyronine(FT3), free thyroxine(FT4), reverse triiodothyronine(r T3),thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH), antithyroperoxidase antibody(TPOAb) and anti-Thyroglobulin antibody(TGAb) level of the patients were determined in the two groups. Results FT3, FT4, TSH level were lower and r T3, TPOAb, TGAb level higher in the study group than in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant,P 0.05. Conclusion The combination of type 2 diabetes and abnormal thyroid hormone level can lead to disease progression, therefore it is of clinical significance to deter-mine the thyroid hormone level for elderly patients.
