Title: Clinical study of correlated factors in the aged with subclinical hypothyroidism
Abstract: Objective To choose102 cases in our department and analysis the relevant factors of elderly patients with subclinical hypothyroidism. Methods The thyroid functions(TT3, TT4,FT3,FT4,TSH),total cholesterol (TC),triglyceride (TG),high density lipoprotein (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein (LDL-C),glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1C) were determined as well as the score was evaluated by thyroid ultrasound and neck vascular ultrasound.Meanwhile,All patient's previous medical history were collected. Results A total of 102 patients were screened,46 patients(45.1%) were found to have high TSH and 56(54.9%)cases to have normal TSH.there weren't significant differences in serum lipids, creatinine and glycated hemoglobin between the elevated TSH group and the control group. The high TSH levels weren't correlated with the neck artery plaque, diabetes, hypertension, chronic bronchitis, pulmonary heart disease, cerebral infarction. The abnormal TSH was positively associated with thyroid nodules(P=0.023,OR=2.013) and coronary heart disease(P=0.041,OR=2.705). Conclusion subclinical hypothyroidism in elderly patients is one of the risk factors of thyroid nodules and coronary heart disease, TSH should become one of the indicators to evaluate the cardiovascular risk.
