Abstract: Cationic polyacrylamide [P(AM-DMC)] was synthesized by aqueous copolymerization of acrylamide(AM) and 2-trimethylammonium ethyl methacrylate chloride(DMC) using composite initiator system.The influences of monomer concentration,reaction time,initial temperature,pH value on copolymerization were discussed.The results showed that the optimal synthetic parameters for producing higher molecular weight and cationic degree of CPAM were as follows:monomer concentration was 15%,the amount of oligomer was 0.06%,the initial temperature was 85 ℃,pH value was 6 and reaction time was 3 h.
