Title: Expression and clinical significance of COX-2 in colorectal carcinoma patients
Abstract: Aim To explore the expression of COX-2 in colorectal carcinoma patients and their relationship with clinicopathological factors. Methods The expression of COX-2 in 51 colorectal cancinomas and 15 colorectal adenomas and 15 normal colorectal tissue was detected immumohistochmically. Results The levels of expression of COX-2 were not significant difference in colorectal carcinomas and adenomas(P0.05).But the levels expressed in colorectal cancinomas and adenomas were higher than normal tissue P0.05).The expression of COX-2 was not associated with the age, sex, size of the tumor, position of the tumor, differentiation of the patients(P0.05).The expression of COX-2 was associated with tumor's Dukes grade, lymph node metasasis(P0.05).Conclusions Overexpression of COX-2 in colorectal carcinoma may play an important role in tumor development and progression.
