Title: Expression and clinical siginificance of MMP-14 in colorectal carcinoma
Abstract: Objective To investigate the expression and clinical siginificance of matrix metalloproteinase-14(MMP-14)in colorectal carcinoma. Methods The expression of MMP-14 was detected by Western blot in 8fresh human colorectal carcinoma and tumor-adjacent normal tissues, which was detected in paraffin-embedded specimens of cancer(90cases)and tumor-adjacent normal tissues(30cases).The relationship between the expression of MMP-14 and clinicopathological parameters of colorectal carcinoma was analyzed. Results The expression of MMP-14 in colorectal carcinoma was significantly higher than that in the tumor-adjacent normal tissues(P0.01).The expression intensity of MMP-14 protein was significantly correlated with the depth of tumor invasion, lymph node metastasis and Dukes classification of colorectal carcinoma(P0.05).The tumor histological grade, with or without lymph node metastasis, invasive depth,Dukes classification and MMP-14 expression were closely related with survival time(P0.05).MMP-14 expression was independent prognostic indicator for the prognosis of patients with colorectal carcinoma. Conclusion The high expression of MMP-14 is significantly related with the development and progression of colorectal carcinoma and MMP-14 may be used as an independent prognostic indicator for the patients with colorectal carcinoma.
