Title: The clinical significance of serum VEGF level in gastric cancer patients.
Abstract: Objective Vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) is an important angiogenesis stimulating factor. It is believed that VEGF is closely associated with some biological behavior of malignant tumors. This experiment aims to study the correlation of serum VEGF and clinicopathological features in gastric cancer patients. Method The expression of serum VEGF in sixty-three cases of gastric cancer was detected by ELISA method and its relationship to clinicopathological features was analyzed. Results VEGF positive expression was significantly correlated with depth of tumor invasion, tumor lymph node metastasis, organ metastasis and TNM stage(P0.05 ), but its relationship to age, gender of patients and tumor differentiation was not found(P0.05). Conclusion The high expression of serum VEGF in gastric cancer patients suggests rapid tumor growth and possible metastasis.
