Title: Changes in immune functions on treatment with integrated traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine for patients with remisson phase of asthma
Abstract: Objective:To investigate the changes in immune functions on treatment with integrated traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) and western medicine(WM) for patients with remission phase of asthma.Methods:38 cases were randomly divided into two groups, treated group ( n =20) and control group ( n =18).Both groups were treated with ketotijen 1 mg taken orally per day for three months and γglobulin 1 ample injected intramuscularly per halfmonth for three months continuously. In treated group based on these therapies Xiaochuan Guben Fang (哮喘固本方) taken orally once a day was added for three years to be observed continuously. Results:In treated group the total effective rate (100 0%) was significantly superior to that (66 7%) in control group ( P 0 01),furthermore the levels of IgG before and after therapy had a significant difference and compared to that in control group after therapy had significant differences too (all P 0 01).In treated group in comparison between before and after therapy the levels of IgA and IgM had significant differences ( P 0 05 and P 0 01),meantime compared to control group after therapy also had significant differences ( P 0 05 and P 0 01).Conclusions:The treatment based on therapy of WM with Xiaochuan Guben Fang for remission phase of asthma is able to increase the immune abilities of patients and curative effects.
