Abstract: As a Palaearctic vagrant, the Ringed Plover Charadrius hiaticula is virtually annual in Australia in recent years (Lane 1987). There are two Queensland records: Boonooroo from 17 July to 23 August 1983 (Stewart 1984); and Kinka Beach, Yeppoon on 20 February 1987 (Redhead 1990). The second of these Queensland records is documented in this note. This species and the possibly conspecific Semipalmated Plover C. semipalmatus from North America are very similar. The latter is not considered in the following discussion.
