Title: The buff-breasted paradise kingfisher in central Queensland
Abstract: One subspecies of the Buff-breasted Paradise Kingfisher Tanysiptera sylvia winters in New Guinea and migrates across Torres Strait to breed in the rainforests of North Queensland during the wet season. Published records show that the known breeding range extends only as far south as the Paluma Range (19 degrees 10'S; 146 degrees 25'E) just north of Townsville. Most birds have arrived by mid to late November and have departed by late March or early April.
