Title: Environment and social safeguards framework : Annexes
Abstract: The development objective of the Access to Sustainable Energy Project for Philippines is to assist the Philippines in increasing access to electricity in a sustainable manner. Some of the negative impacts and mitigation measures include: (1) adopt roof-top mounted schemes that occupy less space and have lesser visual impacts rather than large grid-connected power stations that cover more land area; (2) installation must be designed to withstand well-defined maximum wind velocities and storms; (3) set-up temporary disposal mechanism within the construction area and properly dispose the generated solid wastes; (4) fire prevention systems and secondary containment should be provided for storage facilities to prevent fires or the release of hazardous materials to the environment; and (5) preparation and conduct of decommissioning plans, including disposal methods, recycling opportunities, and collection of used photovoltaic (PV) cells.
