Abstract: abstract The contributions of women to liberation movements globally have not been fully recognised or acknowledged. This briefing explores the concept of contemporary activism through the global social movement and its activities and failures to engender liberation movements. The case of the South African women's movement is provided as an example that global social movements can learn from.
