Title: Extending capacity utilisation measures from railway links to nodes
Abstract: Railroad capacity provision and railroad capacity consumption or utilization are interdependent. Both measures are needed to compute appropriate railroad capacity that includes the fully railroad network - links, nodes, and all elements of the network. This research discusses railroad capacity measurement and how to maximize railroad capacity. The paper discusses the benefits of including station nodes, junctions, and the full railroad network in measuring railroad capacity. It presents algorithms and programs that allow for quick calculation of the appropriate measures.
