Title: Administrative and technical monitoring of public works contracts: case study: road rehabilitation contracts in Cameroon
Abstract: Many big public works infrastructural projects in developing countries in Africa are carried out without adequate technical studies, and even during the execution phase of such contracts, there is usually insufficient administrative and technical monitoring by the various stakeholders involved. For monitoring and reporting to be effective and harmonised within a nation or sub-region, pre-conceived detailed model formats for evaluation have to be adopted and approved by the technical ministries. In this technical paper, a catalogue of both administrative and technical indicators shall be presented with the intention of serving as a guideline to those government officers responsible for the follow-up of the execution of road rehabilitation or road maintenance contracts within their areas of competence, thereby, increasing the quest for performance in view of guaranteeing the integrity, reliability and credibility of the management of road infrastructure projects.
