Title: REPRESENTATION AND REASONING FOR KNOWLEDGE-BASED TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEM
Abstract: Most of previous traffic control systems are static in a sense of using pre-timed signal control. Static traffic control systems cannot properly respond to dynamic changes. To comp up with this sort of problem, some systems adopt visual processing for detecting dynamic traffic information. Although the dynamic traffic information is essential to the efficient traffic control systems, unless they are designed to intelligently handle the information, it is still difficult to efficiently control traffic. In this paper, a new paradigm of traffic control systems is proposed that can efficiently control traffic. For this paradigm, an early version of traffic control agent is suggested. More specifically, the architecture of traffic control agent is proposed and the agent provided with a suitable knowledge representation scheme and an efficient reasoning process.
