Abstract: Beta-3 adrenoceptors are activated by the catecholamines norepinephrine and epinephrine, and are members of the adrenoceptor family of the 7-transmembrane superfamily of receptors. There are three beta adrenoceptor subtypes: beta-1, beta-2, and beta-3. The typical beta antagonists, such as propranolol, do not inhibit beta-3 receptors. Beta-3 adrenoceptors are expressed predominantly in fat cells.
