Title: INVESTIGATIONS INTO THE UTILIZATION OF THE WHEEL/RAIL ADHESION OF ELECTRICAL LOCOMOTIVES
Abstract: Since the adhesion coefficients are of basic importance in the design of railway traction stock, it is intended to bring up to date for bogie locomotives the Curtius & Kniffler characteristic of 1943. The objectives of the basic investigation are: An exact as possible description of the adhesion utilization of the Class 120 three-phase locomotive and comparable vehicles on the basis of experimental studies (experimental wheelsets, statistical procedures); and comparison of the characteristics so found by relating these to the individual design features and checking for possible consequences.
