Title: REVIEW OF TRAFFIC SAFETY PROJECTS ESPECIALLY AS REGARDS THE PEDESTRIAN
Abstract: The Traffic Safety Department of the Dutch Ministry of Transport coordinates the traffic safety policy between the other ministries, the provinces and the local authorities. For this coordination the transfer of science and money is needed. But for the coordination to be effective then the coordination point must be a central point where experience and data can be exchanged. To illustrate this policy some demonstration projects for pedestrian safety such as traffic education, reconstruction of town centres and residential areas, the construction of cycle tracks and the journey to school are discussed.
