Title: THE DEVELOPMENT OF A LAND INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR TRAFFIC PLANNING AND TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT IN BRISBANE . 15TH ARRB CONFERENCE, DARWIN, NORTHERN TERRITORY, 26-31 AUGUST 1990; PROCEEDINGS PARTS 1 TO 7
Abstract: This paper discusses the development of the Land Information System by the Brisbane City Council and makes particular reference to the systems developed by its Traffic Planning Branch for the planning of the road system and the design, installation and maintenance of the traffic management systems for Brisbane. The Council resolved that an innovative approach was required to metricate and redraw the Council's mapping system. The system is being implemented progressively and is having a significant impact on the operations of the Traffic Planning Branch. The ability of the Branch to plan and manage the traffic system of a City that serves over one million people has been enhanced by the development of the Land Information System. The benefits of the project are outlined and the opportunities for future development are discussed. (Author/TRRL)
