Title: The highway design and maintenance model hdm-iii: an introduction
Abstract: The highway design and maintenance model hdm-iii was developed by the world bank for the evaluation of road projects in developing countries. The model predicts road deterioration, vehicle speeds and vehicle operating costs for various standards of road geometry, construction and maintenance. This information is used to provide a broad economic evaluation of alternative investment strategies. This paper provides a brief introduction to the model for unfamiliar users, including: outputs; input data; getting started; component submodels; comparisons with NIMPAC and revs; and research and development needs and options.
