Title: Brussels Won Over by the Flexity Outlook Tram
Abstract: This article describes the new Brussels tramway which combines state-of-the-art techniques and an original look inspired by the Art Nouveau style. The Flexity Outlook tram, built by Bombardier, is a bi-directional tram with full low floor interiors, a normal gauge track, interior design by the Belgian designer Axel Enthoven, video surveillance cameras in the cars, a bogie pivot around the bodyshell, dual stage bogie suspension, a three-phase current electric traction motor, and an ergonomically-designed driver's desk. The author also discusses the successful entry-into-service of the tramset line in September 2005. The original fleet of 46 trams has just been bolstered by an order for 22 more units. One chart summarizes the specifications of the T3000/T4000 Flexity Outlook trams.
