Abstract: The Swedish State Railway has decided to improve existing railway infrastructure and develop new trains for higher speeds on existing tracks. The latest major rolling stock investment in Sweden is described: the high-speed tilting train class X2, the OTU train from Bombardier Transportation that can run on both Danish and Swedish railway tracks, the Regina regional train from Bombardier Transportation, new intercity X40 trains from Alstom, the Y31/Y32 diesel multiple unit from Bombardier Transportation, X60 commuter trains for Stockholm from Alstom, and Vagn 2000 metro cars from Bombardier Transportation. The upgrade of the track to withstand an axle load of 25 tonnes and the purchase of new wagons has improved freight transport capacity and efficiency. New freight wagons include the two-axle timber wagon Laaps-011 and the Hiqqrs-vw freight wagon from K-Industrier.
