Title: CANADIAN NATIONAL STRIVING FOR 'SEAMLESS' INTERNATIONAL RAIL SERVICE
Abstract: The Canadian National Railway, the largest in Canada, has been moving aggressively to secure its position as a carrier for the pulp and paper industry. Most recently, CN North America contracted with Trenton Works of New Glasgow, NS, to build 500 110-ton boxcars to transport pulpwood. Delivery was scheduled to begin in January 1993. The new boxcars, equipped with 12-ft plug doors, will be used in place of 75-ton boxcars the railway had been using. It will also allow CN to keep up with increased business in western Canada from Millar Western's Meadow Lake mill and the new Al Pac mill scheduled to come on line in July 1993.
