Title: THE ROLE OF COMMUNICATIONS IN ACCIDENTS AND INCIDENTS DURING RAIL POSSESSIONS. IN: ENGINEERING PSYCHOLOGY AND COGNITIVE ERGONOMICS. AEROSPACE AND TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS
Abstract: The paper examines how problems with safety critical communications can lead to incidents or accidents within possessions on the rail infrastructure. Described is an analysis tool created to discover which incidents were communication related and where communications took effect. Also discussed is the creation of the tool, its pilot and the use in the field. The three part data analysis approach is evaluated and its problems are addressed. The fieldwork and expert evaluation results are collated and the findings are discussed.
