Abstract: A PLAN IS PROPOSED FOR HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE WHICH IS BASED ON PERIODIC OBSERVATIONS OF THE SURFACING, THUS ENABLING A PROGRAMME TO BE ESTABLISHED THAT WOULD REST ON OBJECTIVE CRITERIA. A WIDE RANGE OF OPERATIVES FORM PART OF MAINTENANCE: TRAFFIC SIGNS AND SIGNALS, MARKINGS, INCREASE IN VISIBILITY, IMPROVEMENT OF SHARP ROADS, BENDS, WIDENING OF SHOULDERS, ELIMINATION OF ROADSIDE OBSTACLES AND SKIDDING BLACK SPOTS BY MEANS OF NON-SKID TREATMENTS, ETC.
