Title: INTEGRATED TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT AND INFORMATION IN THE COPENHAGEN AREA
Abstract: The management of traffic in the Copenhagen Area is under the responsibility of a range of public authorities, each of which have established ITS systems, which are used for the surveillance, information and control of traffic within their respective domain. There is, however, substantial scope for improving traffic information and management through the co-ordination of efforts and the integration of systems. The users need integrated information in order to choose the optimal route or mode of transport. Public administrations need to control traffic across administrative borders and between different transport modes in order to efficiently pursue overall transport policies and goals. Against this background some key entities in the Copenhagen Area decided to co-operate within the area of ITS. The entities made a survey of the present systems and developed a short- and long-term strategy for the integration of ITS. Following this, several short-term improvements are now being implemented and the longer-term strategic issues are also being pursued. For the covering abstract, see IRRD 490001.
