Abstract: The Goodwood Junction Rail Grade Separation has removed a major bottleneck on the Adelaide rail network. The design and construct project completed by the Thiess-York Joint Venture (TY JV) for the SA Government Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) has grade separated the ARTC freight and Belair Passenger Rail lines from the twin track Seaford Passenger Rail Line removing the existing at grade conflict between the freight and passenger lines. The grade separation, completed within a highly congested 30 metre wide brownfield rail corridor, incorporates 2 structures which cross the lowered Seaford Passenger Line; a rail deck carrying the ARTC and Belair Passenger lines and a road deck carrying local road Victoria Street. The project was fast tracked to market in order to capitalise on a planned closure of the Seaford Passenger Line for major track upgrades, signalling and electrification works. An innovative Collaborative D&C procurement process was developed and led by DPTI to ensure full collaboration between all parties including major stakeholders. Construction completion was successfully reached just 15 months after the initial industry briefing for the project.
