Title: INNOVATIVE TECHNIQUES IN PAVEMENT DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, EVALUATION AND MAINTENANCE
Abstract: In this paper likely developments in pavement design, construction, evaluation and maintenance are considered. Heavy duty pavements and the use of sandwich-type structures and lightweight fill are discussed. The increased use of modifiers, recycled materials and by-products, reinforcing techniques, and high quality aggregates is anticipated. End-product specification is expected to replace recipe-type specification. The effects of these new developments on contracting and quality control are discussed. A wide range of fast measuring techniques will be available generating considerable data. The effective use of this data is considered. For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 856393.
