Title: TRAFFIC COORDINATION AND PLANNING FOR THE NORTH-SOUTH TOLLWAY CONSTRUCTION PROJECT
Abstract: The work of the interdisciplinary task force in managing traffic in the construction of Chicago's North-South Tollway is described. The latter is a major new controlled access facility being built through the center of DuPage County to serve the traffic demands in a high growth area. The composition of the task force is described. It ensured that all aspects of the tollway construction were coordinated with other project implementors and that information was provided to individuals, municipalities and the press in a timely manner. It also ensured that measures were taken to minimize disruption caused by the project, and monitored the system's performance.
