Abstract: The introduction of the Government Accounting Standards Board Statement (GASB) No. 34 calls for government agencies to develop efficient and accurate asset management practices, which will hopefully result in higher efficiency, greater cost-effectiveness, and wiser decision-making as agencies become more in tune with the process of asset management. The article also describes innovative methods for renovating, replacing, and expand roadways. It describes the long-life pavement rehabilitation program in California and concrete pavement restoration (CPR) which is used to replace isolated sections of mildly deteriorated pavement, to prevent or slow overall deterioration, or to reduce the impact loaning on the pavement.
