At the same time there is an increasing customer expectation on useful traffic informa...The growth in the Gothenburg region will lead to a vast amount of infrastructure investment in the coming decade. At the same time there is an increasing customer expectation on useful traffic information. This has lead to an opportunity to establish an improved road traffic management to ensure efficient handling of disturbances in the traffic as well as providing accurate traffic information. The Swedish Transport Administration and the City of Gothenburg’s Traffic and Transport authority are establishing a joint road traffic management centre that is responsible for managing both the national and municipal road networks. This paper will discuss key success factors for this project. Dividing the project into an initial trial project co-existing with a project defining goals for the longer term has helped solve many issues regarding trust and risk for each party. Furthermore the handling of employment conditions as well as the strategy for technical integration has been successful.Finally handling the challenges of cross-organizational collaboration has been one of the big obstacles in this project. Experience shows how to achieve cross-organizational collaboration through a combination of open-mindedness, written agreements and patience.Read More
