Abstract: This article describes how one of the biggest infrastructure projects undergoing implementation in a city center in Germany at present is going to fill a gap in the existing railway network between two terminal stations in Leipzig and, at the same time, create a new underground railway access to the center of that city. The project provides a fundamental improvement in both traffic and transport in the city and suburbs. All of the larger towns, along with the Leipzing area, are going to benefit.
