Abstract: Many important Swiss railways pass through tunnels completed at the turn of the century or earlier, which are now inadequate for modern requirements. At Moosbach, a mountain railway tunnel is being redriven on a greater track-radius to cater for longer carriages and higher speeds. At Hondrich a single line tunnel is being duplicated. The article discusses both of these upgrading projects.
