Title: “WALKING SIMULATORS”, LITERATURA ELETRÔNICA E OUTRAS FORMAS DE CONTAR HISTÓRIAS: O CASO DO JOGO EVERYBODY’S GONE TO THE RAPTURE
Abstract: Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture (em tradução livre, “Todos partiram para o arrebatamento”), é um jogo eletrônico lançado em 2015 pela desenvolvedora de jogos The Chinese Room. Como um exemplo de jogo denominado, por vezes pejorativamente, de “walking simulator”, Rapture tensiona as divisões entre o aspecto de “jogo” e de “narrativo” na Literatura Eletrônica. Neste artigo, examinaremos Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture pelas lentes da ainda emergente Literatura Eletrônica de forma a argumentar que o gênero popularizado como “walking simulator” tanto enfatiza a potencialidade narrativa e literária dos jogos eletrônicos, como desafia formas narrativas centradas em um herói e na violência como forma de ação e progresso narrativo. Para isso, será apresentada uma breve descrição da origem e características desse gênero; em seguida, olharemos para a discussão sobre Literatura Eletrônica, aplicando-a à materialidade do texto de Rapture e estabelecendo um possível enquadramento para a análise de jogos eletrônicos de forma mais ampla. Por fim, será feita uma breve análise de Rapture como uma narrativa em formato de “bolsa” a partir do diálogo entre Donna Haraway e Ursula K. Le Guin acerca da emergência de novas formas de contar histórias.
