Title: Palacete Conde de Sarzedas: a casa como documento e monumento - a ocupação pelo Museu do Tribunal de Justiça no processo de musealização do patrimônio histórico
Abstract: This dissertation aimed to analyze the conversion process of Palacete Conde de Sarzedas into a museum space. The mansion was built in the last decade of the 19th century, went through the 20th century and, unlike most similar properties of the period, located in the central area of the city of São Paulo, "escaped" demolition and remained in the family's possession until 2000, when it was acquired by the Fundação Carlos Chagas. In 2002, the Palacete was listed by the DPH/CONPRESP, due to its historical and architectural value, as it is one of the few, perhaps the only, remaining eclectic palaces in São Paulo. The listing led to the restoration of the property, as part of the requalification of the city center of São Paulo and the construction of an office tower. However, at that time, there was still no definition as to the occupation established for the property, which led the restoration to be carried out in an open way, that is, with the possibility of sheltering different types of use and occupation.Only after the restoration works were completed, it was decided that the Museu do Palácio de Justiça (Museum of the Court of Justice of São Paulo) would occupy the property. It was then that the histories of both institutions became linked and it was possible to establish a bridge between the Palacete Conde de Sarzedas and the Museu do Palácio de Justiça (Museum of the Court of Justice of São Paulo) in its musealization process. This fact justifies the non-compliance with some specific normative requirements for the area during the restoration works. The occupation of the building suffered from two central points: the absence of a program of needs suited to its occupation, especially with regard to lighting, humidity, accessibility, etc. and the lack of a Museological Plan. These two factors interact at all times and their effects are felt both in practice and in theory. Therefore, an exploratory qualitative research was carried out, based on a case study, having as temporal beacons the period from 1891, year of construction of the Palacete, to 2009, year of construction of the exhibition discourse. Therefore, the period of construction of the Palacete, its insertion in the landscape of São Paulo during the 20th century, its involvement with the city's heritage policies and its subsequent musealization, already in the 21st century, was covered. It was analyzed how the refunctionalization of a historic building, as well as its restoration, should take into account its use and occupation, an equation that does not always govern the installation of museological institutions in buildings not designed or planned for this purpose. Finally, it is expected that the present dissertation will contribute to the area of Museology, especially with regard to the institutional museums of the judiciary, which, to a large extent, suffer from internal regulatory mechanisms that may come to minimally ensure the oscillations of gestures.By understanding the relevance of the Museu do Tribunal de Justiça de São Paulo (Museum of the Court of Justice of São Paulo) inserted in the institution, one is closer to achieving the objectives that challenge it, with the realization of an occupation plan for a more articulated architectural asset, which dialogues with the space and explores its multiple potentialities.
