Abstract: From January 2010, the World Federation of Neurology (WFN) will have a new president. The achievements of the WFN over the past 4 years, during the presidency of Johan Aarli, have been impressive. But as Vladimir Hachinski leads the WFN into the next decade—a decade in which the global burdens of stroke, epilepsy, dementia, Parkinson's disease, and multiple sclerosis all look set to increase—will it be able to keep pace with the ever increasing need for more and better neurological services?
