Title: Automatic Generation Control Analysis of the Uruguayan Power System
Abstract: Due to the high incorporation of non-conventional renewable generation (NCRG), along with its associated variability, in Uruguay it was necessary to incorporate an Automatic Generation Control to manage power interchanges. This paper analyze an Automatic Generation Control for Uruguay, involving the three major hydroelectric power plants Salto Grande, Bonete and Palmar. It provides results of simulations performed with two different types of energy dispatches, one with high variability in NCRG and the other with high NCRG production. Future research works and opportunities based on the presence of an Automatic Generation Control are also presented.
