Title: Gelehrter Habitus und eremitische Lebensform. Eine Sozialgeschichte der Einsamkeit in der Ära Peter Abaelards
Abstract: Zusammenfassung Der Habitus vormoderner Gelehrter ist stark von dem Erfordernis zur Konzentration und von selbst gewählter Abschottung von den Reizen der Umwelt geprägt. Im Gegensatz zu früheren Erklärungsversuchen präsentiert dieser Aufsatz die These, dass nicht erst der Renaissance-Humanismus, sondern schon das Jahrhundert von ca. 1050 bis ca. 1150 hierfür eine prägende Rolle gespielt hat. Die privaten, freien „scholae“, die in jener Phase aufblühen, sind eingebettet in eine zeittypische Kultur der Einsamkeit und einen Kult des Eremitentums, an dem sich zahlreiche Magister und Scholaren nachweislich beteiligt haben. Der Aufsatz untersucht die Verbindungen, die zwischen den „scholae“ der frühen Scholastik und den Siedlungen gesellschaftlicher Aussteiger und Eremiten bestehen.
