Title: Internal Communication in a Cross-Cultural and Global Context
Abstract: For successful cross-cultural internal communication, it is important to develop cross-cultural competences as well as knowledge and skills designed for internal multicultural communication (Apud & Apud-Martinez, 2008). Therefore, in this chapter we explore the concept of culture within public relations and organizational communication and how it shapes global internal communication. We continue with a discussion on the effect that technologies have on global internal communication, as well as what the necessary competencies are for intercultural or multicultural communication. We finish the chapter with an account of the most important trends which will be affecting the future of internal communication in a cross-cultural and global context.
