A Ku band frequen...With the development of modern radar and communication systems, frequency sources with high spectrum purity, broad frequency band and low phase noise becomes more and more important. A Ku band frequency synthesizer with function of single and sweep frequency output is presented in this paper. Commercial frequency synthesizer chips are selected according to the design parameters. A theoretical analysis of phase noise of phase-locked loop (PLL) is also conducted. The frequency source controlling software is designed to achieve such functions as lock detect, single and sweep frequency output mode selection. The measured output frequency span of the designed Ku-band frequency synthesizer is 15GHz~16.5GHz, with a step of 0.02MHz in sweep frequency output mode. The measured phase noise at 15GHz, 15.75GHz and 16.5GHz is -89dBc/Hz@ 100kHz, -90dBc/Hz@100kHz and -91dBc/Hz@100kHz respectively.Read More
