Title: Measurement of the expression level of tumor metastasis-enhancing genes in peripheral blood cells of patients with malignant carcinomas
Abstract: OBJECTIVE:To study the expression regularity of tumor mtastasis- enhancing genes in peripheral blood cells from patients with malignant carcinoma.METHODS: The expression rates of CD 44S+,CD 44V 5+, CD 44V 6+ and c-erbB-2+ cells in peripheral blood of 173 patients with malignant carcinomas were measured and analyzed by flow cytometry.RESULTS: The expression rates of CD 44V 5+,CD 44V 6+ and c-erbB-2+ cells in peripheral blood cells of patients with malignant carcinomas were higher than those of normal control groups, P0.01 or P0.05.The expression rate of every tumor metastasis-enhancing genes in peripheral blood cells of patients with different tumor kind was significantly different, P 0.01 or P0.05.The expression rate of CD 44V 5+,CD 44V 6+, c-erbB-2+ cells of patients with metastasis were higher than those of patients with non-metastasis, P 0.01 or P 0.05.While the expression regularity of CD 44S+ cells in peripheral blood cells for patients with malignant tumor were contrary changes for comparison with CD 44V 5,CD 44V 6,c-erbB-2 and these were significantly different, P0.05. The expression rate of CD 44S+cells in peripheral blood cells were no significantly different in patients with different kind malignant tumor, P0.05. CONCLUSIONS: Malignant tumors may induce abnormal expression of tumor metastasis-enhancing gene in peripheral blood cells of patients with malignant tumor, which were related to tumor metastasis. There are some tendency in the expression of tumor metastasis-enhancing gene according to the the tumor kind. Chin J Cancer Prev Treat,2005,12(2):99-102
