At steady-state cataphoresis the dependence of the nitrogen density on distance from the cathode was found to be exponential which is in agreement with the theoretical prediction. At a fixed gas temperature (370 K) the dependence of cataphoresis on gas pressure and discharge current was measured over extended ranges (3–20 Torr, 20–100 mA). The segregation was found to improve with increasing both the gas pressure and the discharge current, but a saturation tendency was observed at higher currents.Read More
