Title: La imagen de la Numancia sitiada en la dramaturgia española, o la tragedia cervantina como modelo dramático y fuente de inspiración
Abstract: El propósito de este ensayo es de estudiar la evolución de la imagen de Numancia como ciudad sitiada en la dramaturgia española, tratando la Numancia de Cervantes como punto de partida. Con este fin hemos seleccionado una serie de obras en las que se representa la ciudad de Numancia durante el asedio romano y, al realizar un estudio comparativo, hemos llegado a la conclusión de que la tragedia de Cervantes constituye un modelo dramático que, hasta el presente, está inspirando a los autores y la gente de teatro. Se supone que las similitudes entre la obra cervantina y las de los dramaturgos como Rojas Zorrilla y López de Ayala se deben al uso de las mismas fuentes romanas y posteriores, sin embargo, nuestro análisis confirma que lo que es fruto de invención de Cervantes, es decir, las escenas estremecedoras de la vida dentro de la ciudad sitiada, tiene sus obvios equivalentes en las obras de autores mencionados. En el siglo XX, en cambio, se utiliza el texto del drama de Cervantes sin ocultarlo, creando adaptaciones y versiones actualizadas, como lo han hecho Alberti y Sastre, o, acudiendo a las técnicas de reescritura, se conciben textos dramáticos nuevos, en sí originales y autónomos que, sin embargo, mantienen un diálogo intertextual con la tragedia cervantina, procedimiento del cual un ejemplo más relevante lo constituye La ciudad sitiada de Laila Ripoll.
