Title: Application of questionnaires in the analysis of patients with moderate-severe obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome for daytime sleepiness, sleep at night, and psychological depression
Abstract: Objective
Using Epworth sleepiness scale (ESS), Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) and Zung self-rating depression scale (ZSDS) to assess different degree affected by the disease cause of daytime sleepiness, night sleep quality and mental depression differ in patients with moderate-severe OSAHS.
Methods
Survey of 280 patients′ three questionnaire scor and PSG situation with moderate-severe OSAHS, comparing with the control group without OSAHS.Compareing the relationship between the scales and their relationship with PSG indexes.
Results
Moderate-severe OSAHS patients and the control group patients between three groups whether daytime sleepiness, night sleep quality and mental depression were statistical differences (P<0.05). The severe OSAHS group compared with control group the difference is more apparent.ESS and ZSDS is positively correlated with AHI index(r=0.185, 0.117, P<0.05), and between three questionnaire there are mutual positive correlation (r=0.165, 0.169, 0.267, P<0.05). ESS questionnaire scores have a negative correlation with average oxygen saturation and the lowest oxygen saturation (r=-0.214, -0.208, P<0.05). ZSDS questionnaire scores have a negative correlation with average oxygen saturation (r=-0.172, P<0.05).
Conclusions
With the control group, moderate-severe OSAHS patients in three groups between whether daytime sleepiness, night sleep quality and mental depression were worse.Among them severe OSAHS patients is more apparent. And the cause of this result may be associated with the severity of disease in patients with OSAHS, there is a certain correlation with oxygen desaturation.
