Title: Retrograde intubation for inferior lacrimal canaliculus laceration
Abstract: Objective
To investigate the clinical effect of lacrimal duct retrograde intubation for traumatic inferior lacrimal canaliculus laceration.
Methods
Forty-five eyes of forty-five cases with inferior lacrimal canaliculus laceration were retrospectively analysed. The operation was performed under operating microscope. The probing needle of lacrimal passage was inserted from the nasal broken end,Ytype nasolacrimal stent with lacrimal canaliculus was implanted retrogradely and lacrimal canaliculus was anastomosed.
Results
Canalicular nasal ends of all the 45 patients could be successfully found under microscope and be anastomozed. No stent slippage or formation of granulation occurred, 43 cases were cured, and lacrimal canaliculus was obstructed again in 2 cases after extubation.
Conclusion
Retrograde intubation for traumatic inferior lacrimal canaliculus laceration has high success rate, less injury, and less pain.
